Minimum stay is 3 days. There is a 5 night minimum from March 26 - April 2. During the summer season (June 4 - August 27), the minimum is 7 days, with a Saturday check in. The minimum for Thanksgiving week (November 20-27) is 5 days. There is also a 5 day minimum during the Christmas and New Years holiday (December 21 - 27 and December 28 - January 2).

From hiking, fishing in the Pigeon River just out front of the property or just hanging out in the gorgeous cabin, there is something for every member of the family. Bison Overlook Lodge is a great place for families to unwind and reconnect. And fur babies of all sizes are welcome here too — your beloved pets don’t have to miss out on the fun! This is truly a retreat for the entire family.
Make memories during the day enjoying beautiful views of the mountaintops, hiking on the property and visiting the miniature horses, buffalo, goats and llamas. At night, snuggle up with the kids and roast marshmallows at the fire pit while telling stories, or challenge them at foosball in the game room downstairs. Upon entering this lovely log cabin, you’ll notice the rustic charm right away! This lodge has everything your family needs to feel comfy and homey. The huge great room with flatscreen TV is ideal for chilling out and watching movies. There’s plenty of space on the comfortable couches to spread out, while the cute country décor makes it really feel like home. Snuggle around the wood burning stone fireplace in the evenings—there’s even free firewood (limited amount)!
Craving a delicious home-cooked meal while you’re at Bison Overlook Lodge? You’ll have everything you need to whip up a culinary treat in the fully-equipped kitchen. Serve up your meal in the expansive dining area that can comfortably accommodate 8 people.
Wind down your day in the master suite that features a cool queen size suspended custom log bed that will gently rock you to sweet slumber. There’s a second bedroom with a queen log bed as well as a third bedroom with twin over twin log bunk beds for the little ones. All of the bedrooms are thoughtfully decorated to accentuate the lovely country theme. All of the furniture in this gorgeous log cabin was handmade and custom built by the owner’s father using the wood from the property.
Want to escape for a bit with a good book? Retreat to the loft where you’ll find a full size futon (sleeps 2 extra guests) and plenty of reading materials.
For your added convenience, there is even a full size washer and dryer on the first floor, so you don’t have to worry about the kids getting their clothes dirty on your adventures! Just toss them into wash and dry and focus on having fun!
If you’re planning on spending a lot of time in the cabin, there are plenty of family-friendly videos and DVDs to watch. And the kiddos will absolutely adore the exciting game room downstairs, where they can spend hours having a great time playing air hockey and pool.
Your pets are welcome, and there’s even a large kennel supplied for when you want to venture out and leave your furry friend at the cabin.

Bison Overlook Lodge truly is your very own ranch retreat, and you’ll notice the charm before you even step inside. The front porch is welcoming and perfect for enjoying the scenery, relaxing with some hot cocoa and watching the sunset or sunrise. There’s plenty of room for your bunch on the porch—relax on the swing, hammock, bench or rocker. Or have breakfast on the deck while the sun rises over the mountains.
At night, cozy up around the fire pit and roast marshmallows —the kids are sure to love it! Later, take a relaxing soak in the hot tub out on the back deck—4-6 people can fit in the hot tub! Fire up the coals and grill up some tasty bison steaks.
Take a nice hike on the ranch and enjoy the exquisite tranquility of the surrounding mountainside. Or do some fishing in the Pigeon River which runs in front of the property.
Parent Note: The acreage is expansive. Little ones should always be supervised outside.

The owners here really cater to families with small children. They also have a baby swing, a bassinet and a baby chair.
There are fun activities for kids of all ages at Bison Overlook Lodge! Your children will love seeing all of the animals up close from the cabin: the bison grazing on the hills and the llamas coming out of the woods— all from the front porch! They’ll also love meeting Ranger Dan, the ranch miniature horse, as well as the llamas, Jack, Jill and their baby J.J. The kids can have a fun yet educational experience!
Your children will enjoy the short hike through the woods to the playground, the BC Corral. This custom-designed play area has everything from swings, monkey bars zip line, slides, teeter totter, cargo nets, rock wall and even a horseshoe pit for the adults (horseshoes are kept in each cabin).
The game room provides entertainment at night after a day of exploring and sightseeing.
The Biltmore Estate is a must do! Rent a bike and explore the 8,000 acres on the estate (trailers and tag-a-long bikes for kids), take a carriage ride or visit the farm at Antler Hill Village.
Enjoy a ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad and visit the Smoky Mountain Trains Museum.
Spend the day hiking at Chimney Rock or tubing at Deep Creek .
Visit the elk in Cataloochee Park.
Spend a day at the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
Take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Slide down the rocks at Sliding Rock in the Pisgah National Forest .
For winter sports, try downhill skiing, snowboarding & tubing at Cataloochee Ski Resort.

1. This is a NON SMOKING unit, $100 fee will be deducted from deposit if evidence of smoking.
2. Pet fee of $100 is for 2 dogs max. & MUST be in kennel if left alone.
3. We will not rent to vacationing students or singles under 25 years of age unless accompanied by an adult guardian or parent.
4. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY- The maximum number of guests per cabin is limited to 14 persons. An additional charge or $10.00 per person per night for guests in addition to 14 will be assessed. THIS PROPERTY REQUIRES A THREE (3) NIGHT MINIMUM STAY. No charge for infants.
5. NO DAILY MAID SERVICE – While linens and bath towels are included in the cabin. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the cabin.
6. FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS – Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check-in.
7. No discharging of firearms or fireworks on property or a $100 fee will be assessed.
8. $35 fee charged for all returned checks.
9. There will be no refunds due to weather, appliance, water, power or TV failures. All repairs will be made as soon as possible, during normal business hours, unless deemed an emergency. There are no refunds for early check-outs. Please notify me as soon as possible if a problem arises.
