Family Vacation: Skiing in Big Sky, Montana

So, you want to introduce your kids to skiing (and get a ton of slope-side time in yourself)?

Think about a spring trip to the Rockies. Mild weather, sunny skies and ample snow make for a fantastic family vacation.

Big Sky, Montana is an ideal vacation spot for families.  It is the largest ski area in the country, which translates to less crowds, little waiting and more fun on the slopes. Take small children outside of spring break times and you’ll not only beat the crowds, but find better deals on accommodation.

Big Sky Resort has group ski lessons (both full and half day) for ages 4 and up. They also have childcare options at the Lone Peak Playhouse at the bottom of the lifts for children ages 6 months through 8 years old. You can also combine the two for a half day of skiing and a half day of play.

Also during the ski season, there is a Kids Club from 4:00-6:00pm with fun activities for kids, such as crafting, science experiments and nature presentations.

After a fun day in the snow, grab a bite to eat and a brew at the Blue Moon Bakery or Choppers Grub & Pub, both good local choices for a family meal in the evening.

With direct flights from several cities to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN), only 50 miles from the slopes, Big Sky is a great choice for a family-friendly ski vacation.
