Five Fall Family Fun Adventures in Asheville, North Carolina

1. Hiking, Picnicing and Sight Seeing in the many State Parks, Forests and Mountains.
Asheville is a great place to enjoy the scenic state and national parks. Head to the Blue Ridge Parkway for incredible views of the Great Smoky Mountains. Pack a picnic and take in the breathtaking scenery.
2. Pick Your Own!
Kids will love exploring the plenty of local farms and picking their own fruits and vegetables. Late summer/fall is perfect for picking blueberries, blackberries, peaches, raspberries, tomatoes and corn. Go on a hayride, nature walk or play in a pumpkin patch.
Plan on spending an entire day at the Biltmore Estate to take advantage of the extensive grounds as well as a house tour. Tip: Lightweight travel strollers or child backpack carriers are best for touring Biltmore House on the multiple levels.
4. Art Galleries and Museums
Prepare to be amazed at the large variety of local art and craft, including glass, paintings, pottery and every medium you can imagine. Museums are a fun way to spend a rainy day.
Fall is especially amazing with spectacular views of the forest’s brilliant colors. A variety of train excursions and special event trains makes it perfect for making memories. Ride in an open air gondola (see below.)
